WhatTheToken Support

Get usage moving again.

Setup and troubleshooting for the macOS app, iPhone companion, Home Screen widgets, and supported providers.

Quick start

  1. Open WhatTheToken on your Mac and confirm it appears in the Menu Bar.
  2. Sign in to Claude Code or GPT Codex on the Mac. Add your GLM API key inside WhatTheToken if you use GLM.
  3. Choose Refresh Usage and confirm at least one provider reports a live limit.
  4. Open the iPhone app only after the Mac is showing current usage.

Pair an iPhone

On the Mac

Open the iPhone pairing screen and choose Create One-Time QR Code. Keep the QR code visible until the iPhone accepts the invitation.

On the iPhone

Scan the QR code with the Camera app. Follow the CloudKit sharing prompt, return to WhatTheToken, and tap Refresh. The connection screen should show the Mac as connected.

What the connection requires

A cable and matching Wi-Fi network are not required. Pairing and usage sync use Apple CloudKit. The Mac must stay online to publish fresh usage.

If scanning opens the app but does not connect

  • Install the latest WhatTheToken build on both devices.
  • Confirm iCloud Drive and CloudKit are available for both apps.
  • Create a new one-time QR code because invitations expire.
  • Complete the Apple share acceptance screen before returning to WhatTheToken.
  • Revoke the incomplete pairing on the Mac, then try once more.

Usage is not refreshing

  • Refresh on the Mac first. The iPhone cannot fetch provider usage by itself.
  • Check that the Mac has an internet connection and is awake.
  • Open the provider CLI once to renew an expired session.
  • If the iPhone shows saved or stale data, refresh again after the Mac reports a successful publish.
  • For multiple Macs, select the intended source at the top of the iPhone dashboard.

Provider help

Claude

WhatTheToken uses the local Claude Code session. If it asks for sign-in, open Claude Code on the Mac and complete authentication, then refresh WhatTheToken.

GPT Codex

WhatTheToken reads rate-limit information from the installed Codex app or CLI. Update Codex and confirm it can start normally before refreshing.

GLM

Paste the GLM API key using Configure GLM in the Mac app. The key is stored in the macOS Keychain. Never send an API key in a support message or screenshot.

Home Screen widgets

  1. Open WhatTheToken on the iPhone and refresh until usage appears.
  2. Touch and hold the Home Screen, choose Add Widget, then find WhatTheToken.
  3. Select a widget size and add it.
  4. Touch and hold the widget to choose Automatic, Claude, GPT Codex, or GLM.

If a widget is blank, open the iPhone app, refresh once, and wait for the widget timeline to reload.

Diagnostics

When reporting a problem, include the macOS and iOS app versions, the provider affected, the visible connection state, and the approximate time the issue occurred.

Do not include API keys, OAuth tokens, QR invitation URLs, Keychain contents, or full credential files.

Contact support

Email apple-dev@siamplusdev.com. Include the app version and a short sequence of steps that reproduces the issue.
